One thing cool you can do now, is to use Summary Blocks "inline" in your blog content.

If you talk about an up-coming event, you can add an events summary on the end like this:

You can also add summary blocks within blog posts to say "here are other posts about hang-gliding you will love"...

Which means, religiously adding tags and categories will be beneficial for filtering this stuff in the future.
